Jacob Collier: Little Blue
One of the most multi-talented musicians of his generation, London-based Jacob Collier was in Tokyo last month to perform, and he took time out of his busy schedule to shoot a music video with us for “Little Blue” - the first track to come out from his upcoming album Djesse Vol. 4, set to be released in full in February 2024. A typically complex composition with cascading harmonies, a signature “audience choir” feature in the chorus, as well as guest vocals from American singer Brandi Carlile, “Little Blue” conjures up a voyage through darkness and light, which we represented as an animated journey through a shape-shifting landscape of oceans and forests. With nods to Japan in the details — from Jacob’s origami-inspired boat, to his Issey Miyake outfit — we wanted this to feel like a cross-cultural collaboration that transported his work into a brand-new world.
